Artivism

Inspire activism, invoke empathy

Artistic activism, as defined by the Center for Artistic Activism, is a dynamic practice combining the creative power of the arts to move us emotionally with the strategic planning of activism necessary to bring about social change. Through LMSvoice, we have created Art-i-vism DC to educate youth about the power of artistic activism and provide them the tools to initiate change in their own neighborhoods

We also utilize the art of storytelling to correlate experiences between our own life challenges and the issues that social advocacy organizations work to address.

Want something specific to your group? We create customizable 30-90 min program sessions for schools, afterschool programs, community centers, and youth/adult development programs. Joseph Green is also commissioned to create performance pieces highlighting the work of organizations demonstrating artistic activism.

Recovery and Prevention

Joseph Green uses poetry interwoven with storytelling to share his battle with addiction and recovery to deliver a message of inspiration for people who have chosen careers in prevention, intervention, and treatment. He also pulls from his 10 years of experience building and implementing youth-focused development and prevention programming.

Youth Development

Joseph Green uses stories pulled directly from his almost 2 decades of work serving youth all throughout the country. Audiences will learn from his triumphs and challenges as a career teaching artist and as the co-founder of two of the largest youth-serving poetry events on the east coast.

“I just wanted to send you an email to let you know that the forum we held with Joseph Green was spectacular. He was very down to earth, professional, and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Afterward, students lined up on the stage to meet him and shake his hand. We also took photos. The school welcomed him back for another forum in the Springtime as well. It was AMAZING. I’m still in awe of the event.”
